Independent Indigenous Tourism Operators of Queensland grew out of yarns between Indigenous tour operators and families across Southeast Queensland who were tired of being spoken for, managed, or pushed aside in their own industry. Many had built their businesses from nothing, carrying culture, stories and Country on their shoulders, but found that peak bodies, permits and policies sat over the top of them instead of walking beside them.
