Chair, Queensland Tourism Industry Council
On behalf of the Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC), it is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2026 Queensland Tourism Awards, proudly supported by Queensland Airports Limited.
Now in its 41st year, the Queensland Tourism Awards celebrate the people, businesses and experiences that make Queensland one of Australia’s leading tourism destinations. The awards recognise excellence, innovation and outstanding customer experiences, while providing an opportunity for our diverse and passionate industry to come together, celebrate its achievements and look towards the future.
There is plenty to look forward to across Queensland tourism, from the continued growth of First Nations tourism and experiences that share the world’s oldest living cultures, to major events and new opportunities leading into the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. As our industry continues to evolve, it is the dedication, creativity and resilience of tourism operators across the state that will shape the experiences and opportunities of tomorrow.
This year, we are particularly proud to celebrate 20 years of partnership with Queensland Airports Limited. Two decades of support is an extraordinary milestone and a testament to the strength of the relationship between QAL and Queensland’s tourism industry. We are incredibly grateful for their longstanding commitment to celebrating and supporting tourism excellence across the state.
I would also like to acknowledge our other valued long-standing partners, including Seven Network, Tourism and Events Queensland and the Queensland Government, whose ongoing support helps make the Queensland Tourism Awards possible.
My sincere thanks also go to our Awards Judges, led by Chair of Judges Elizabeth Hackett, for generously sharing their time, expertise and knowledge to recognise excellence across our industry. I also acknowledge the tremendous efforts of the QTIC team, led by Chief Executive Officer Natassia Wheeler, in delivering Queensland’s premier tourism awards program.
Finally, congratulations to all of the 2026 Queensland Tourism Awards finalists. Reaching this stage is an outstanding achievement and a reflection of the passion and commitment you bring to Queensland tourism. To tonight’s award recipients, congratulations on this well-deserved recognition of your achievements. We look forward to celebrating with you.
