Chair of Judges, Queensland Tourism Awards
Queensland tourism is entering a defining period. As our State steps more firmly onto the world stage and preparations build toward the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, we are preparing to welcome more visitors and greater international attention than ever before. Tourism will play a vital role in presenting the very best of Queensland - our extraordinary landscapes, distinctive experiences and, most importantly, our people.
The entrants in the 2026 Queensland Tourism Awards represent the ambition and excellence that will carry our industry into this exciting future. They continue to navigate genuine challenges with determination, adaptability and resilience, while delivering the remarkable and uniquely Queensland experiences that set our State apart.
As our world-class tourism offering continues to grow, we can be confident that Queensland is in capable hands. I extend my heartfelt thanks to the team at QTIC, whose ongoing commitment to industry advocacy, development and support provides a strong foundation for our collective success.
It has been an honour and a privilege to serve as Chair of Judges for the 2026 Awards. I have again witnessed the care, expertise and professionalism of our judging panel, who undertake their responsibilities with integrity and ensure the process remains thorough, fair and representative of the highest industry standards.
The Awards are about far more than recognition. They encourage tourism operators to examine, strengthen and celebrate every aspect of their businesses - from sustainability, accessibility and service excellence to First Nations partnerships, responsible tourism and meaningful visitor experiences. Each submission tells a story of leadership, innovation and continuous improvement.
These stories demonstrate that Queensland tourism is not simply responding to change; it is helping shape what comes next.
To everyone gathered on Awards night, your place in the room is an achievement in itself. You are among the people and businesses leading Queensland tourism forward, and I offer each of you my warmest congratulations.
